NEW DELHI: Even though the country is still grappling with the uncontrollable spread of the novel coronavirus, a positive milestone has been reached in India by achieving a recovery rate of 51 per cent. Although, according to Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), India has not reached even its break-even point yet, the recovery rate pointing that more than half of those infected by the virus eventually recover from the disease is an extremely positive achievement. The total cases have reached 3,32,424 and the death toll has surged to 9,520, as per government data.

On the other hand, the number of new cases in a day also reached an all-time high in India when the number of new cases crossed the 11,000 mark for the third consecutive day. However, the cases majorly remain concentrated in five India cities viz Mumbai, Delhi, Ahmedabad, Thane and Chennai. Together, these cities account for more than half of the total Covid-19 cases in the country.
