IMPHAL: On January 4, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Manipur and Tripura, where he will lay the foundation stones for several development projects. The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) said in a statement on Sunday, December 2, that the PM will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for 22 development projects worth over Rs 4800 crore in Imphal. Following that, in Agartala, PM Modi will dedicate the new Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport’s integrated terminal building and announce two major development initiatives.
In Manipur, Modi will lay the foundation stone for nine projects worth Rs 2950 crore and inaugurate 13 projects with a total worth of Rs 1850 crore. These initiatives span a variety of fields, including road infrastructure, drinking water supply, health, urban development, housing, information technology, skill development, and art and culture.
PM Modi will also lay the foundation stone for the construction of five national highway projects worth over Rs 1700 crore, as part of a national initiative to strengthen connectivity. According to the PMO, the development of these routes, which totals more than 110 kilometres in length, will be a significant step toward improving the region’s road connection.
A Steel Bridge will also be inaugurated by the PM. It will be constructed on NH-37 over the Barak River at a cost of around Rs 75 crore. The project intends to improve year-round connectivity from Imphal to Silchar, while also reducing traffic congestion. The Prime Minister will also dedicate 2387 mobile towers erected at a cost of roughly Rs 1,100 crore to the people of Manipur, according to the PMO. This will be a significant step towards increasing the state’s mobile connectivity. In addition, he will dedicate drinking water delivery projects around the state.
The PM will lay the foundation stone of a ‘State of the Art Cancer Hospital’ in Imphal, worth roughly Rs 160 crore on a public-private partnership basis, in an effort to enhance the state’s health sector. In addition, PM Modi will also open the ‘200-bed COVID-19 Hospital at Kiyamgei, which was built at a cost of over Rs 37 crore in partnership with the DRDO to improve Covid-related infrastructure in the state. In Gurgaon, Haryana, the PM will also lay the foundation stone for the Manipur Institute of Performing Arts.
PM Modi will visit Tripura to inaugurate the Maharaja Bir Bikram (MBB) Airport’s New Integrated Terminal Building and announce two significant initiatives: the Mukhyamantri Tripura Gram Samriddhi Yojana and Vidyajyoti Schools’ Project Mission 100. The MBB Airport’s New Integrated Terminal Building, which cost around Rs 450 crore to construct, is a state-of-the-art structure with modern facilities and is supported by the newest IT network integrated system. The Mukhyamantri Tripura Gram Samriddhi Yojana intends to raise the bar for service delivery in key development areas at the village level. Project Mission 100 of Vidyajyoti Schools aims to improve the state’s educational level by transforming 100 existing high/higher secondary schools into Vidyajyoti Schools with state-of-the-art facilities and high-quality education.
