NEW DELHI: The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) is planning to increase the minimum wages of its workers. A proposal in this regard will be tabled in the upcoming house meeting, which is likely to take place by the end of November for approval.

Once approved, this move will increase the wages of the skilled, semi-skilled, and unskilled workers. Revised wages will be paid starting from April 2024, highlighted a civic body official.

As per the proposal, the wages of a skilled worker will increase to ₹20,903, including a dearness allowance (DA) of ₹546. Currently, a skilled worker is paid ₹20,357 per month. Similarly, semi-skilled workers will get ₹18,993 per month, including a dearness allowance of ₹494, as opposed to their current salary of ₹18,499, and unskilled workers will be paid ₹17,234 per month, including ₹442 as dearness allowance. Right now, they are paid ₹16,792 per month.

MCD is also proposing to increase the wages of the clerical and supervisory staff. As per MCD’s proposal, the minimum salary of a non-matriculate employee will go up to ₹18,993 per month, while a matriculate employee will be paid ₹20,902 per month. Similarly, a graduate employee will get ₹22,744 per month after MCD’s proposal is approved.
