CPCB lists 6 lakh petrol, diesel vehicles aged more than 10 years

CHANDIGARH: The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) released a list of nearly six lakh diesel and petrol vehicles that are over 10 years old and will not be allowed to ply in Haryana.

The list consists details of the registration mark series, the name of the authority and registration numbers of these vehicles plying in Haryana, including Gurugram, Sonipat and Bahadurgarh.

CPCB said on its website that the list includes nearly 2,87,613 petrol vehicles older than 15 years and 3,07,453 diesel vehicles more than 10 years old.

The Transport Department had issued a notice warning that petrol vehicles that are 15 years old and diesel vehicles that are 10-year-old would be impounded if found violating the Supreme Court and National Green Tribunal (NGT) orders.

The NGT, in its order in 2015, banned the plying of petrol vehicles older than 15 years and diesel vehicles older than 10 years in the national capital region (NCR).The Supreme Court had supported the NGT order and directed that such vehicles would be impounded.
