LUCKNOW: Uttar Pradesh Cabinet, on Tuesday, October 5, approved several development projects and made amendments in the Integrated Township Policy, which is a license-based system for urban planners.
The amendment dictates that now developers would have to pay an urban development fee in accordance with the layout plan. This policy is intended to encourage private investment in housing schemes. Under this new policy, developers would have to pay a fee at the time of project report clearance.
The Cabinet also approved the proposal to install a statue of Atal Bihari Vajpayee, former Prime Minister of India, at the Circuit House in Kanpur. The statue would cost an estimated Rs 37.35 lakh. They also approved a proposal to widen Chakiya Marg at an estimated cost of Rs 412.5 crore. The Chakiya Marg is the main road that connects the Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi Cantt railway and bus station, Sarnath, Chandauli and Ghazipur.
The Cabinet also agreed to widen the Varanasi-Bhadohi-Gopiganj road at an estimated cost of Rs 269 crore. The development of 23 bus stations under the UP State Road Transport Corporation was also approved by the Cabinet.
In order to make interstate travel between UP and Madhya Pradesh hassle-free, it was decided to make certain zones in Chitrakoot district toll-free.
