AGARTALA, Tripura: Tripura cabinet, on May 25, approved the Electronic Vehicle (EV) Policy, which aims to convert 10 per cent of the automobile into EVs in the next five years.
Currently, there are at least 42,000 two-wheelers, 10,000 three-wheelers, 6500 four-wheelers and 500 buses in the state, and the state government is aiming to convert 10 per cent of the vehicle, out of a total of 60,000, into EVs in the next five years. This move will reduce the dependence of the state on fossil fuels and it will also reduce the vehicular emissions. The EV policy is already being implemented in 14 states, and Tripura would be the 15th state to do so.
Additionally, the state cabinet has also approved the Chief Minister Tea Workers Welfare Project. Under this project, the state government has decided to provide two to three ganda khas land to the local tea workers, free of cost. This would benefit nearly 7230 families residing in the state.
The state will also procure 20,000 metric tonnes of paddy at the Minimum Support Price of Rs 19.40 per kilogram. From the first week of June, 32 centres in the state will start procuring paddy directly from the farmers.
