SIA-India, TSDSI sign for sustainable development of telecom industry

NEW DELHI: The SatCom Industry Association (SIA-India) on Monday, April 25, announced that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Telecommunication Standards Development Society, India (TSDI) for cooperation in development of standards in India and International Standard Development Organisations. The SIA said that this collaboration will address common interests, stimulate and assist future cooperation of their member organisations. The goal is to bring cooperation and support for standardisation towards an efficient and sustainable industry.

Subba Rao Pavuluri, President, SIA-India commented that the collaboration is expected to go a long way in strengthening the standards-based manufacturing expertise in the country. He said that he hopes for Indian standards to be soon recognised globally.

SIA – India noted that it aims to bring focus to build a strong ecosystem, as it represents satellite operators, satellite systems, satellite-based service providers, launch vehicles, and ground and terminal equipment manufacturers and suppliers, space start-ups, academic institutions, law firms, and innovation hubs. It also provides an interface with the government, regulators, policymakers and domestic and international standard bodies.

The organisation, in its statement, added that TSDSI aims at developing and promoting India-specific requirements, standardising solutions and contributing these to international standards. Through this, TSDSI is contributing to global standardisation in the field of telecommunications, maintaining technical standards and other deliverables of the organisation and helping create manufacturing expertise in the country, while also collaborating with other developing countries simultaneously.
