Shah lauds utility of cooperative model in India

GANDHINAGAR: Amit Shah, Minister of Cooperation, Government of India, said on Sunday, November 28, that the cooperative model of economic development is the only model which can ensure all-encompassing and inclusive development of every section of society in a country like India.

Shah said this while addressing a gathering after inaugurating a milk powder factory, a poly film manufacturing plant, and other projects of the Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF) set up with an investment of Rs 415 crore. He said that the cooperative model has the capacity to make everyone prosperous and that more successful cooperative models must be brought to the forefront.

While mentioning the advantages of the cooperative model, Shah lauded the work done by Amul and said that it is impossible to fulfill India’s milk requirement without Amul. He added that the Amul model also showcases how women empowerment can lead to economic prosperity.

He suggested the Amul authorities to replicate the success of the cooperative model in organic and natural farm practices, helping those farmers get better prices for their produce.
