BHUBANESWAR: G Mathivathanan, Principal Secretary, Housing and Urban Development Department, Government of Odisha, on Thursday, January 27, said that the state will be taking up the challenge of treating 100 per cent greywater generated across urban Odisha. The aim is to achieve total sanitation in the state covering both blackwater and greywater management.

Odisha’s partnership with the ISC-FICCI Sanitation Prizes began in 2019, with the state receiving particular recognition with six awards. While addressing the Outreach Event for ISC-FICCI Sanitation Awards 2022, Mathivathanan said that the state’s approach to numerous urban difficulties such as solid waste, liquid waste, and urban poor living in slums is based on community-led and community-centric decentralised solutions. He said that the state is committed to continuing its ground-breaking initiatives and programmes, not only to transform the lives of Odisha’s citizens, but also to serve as an example to other states and countries facing similar challenges.
