Make Andhra Pradesh pothole-free: CM YS Jagan

VIJAYAWADA: At a review meeting on municipal administration and urban development, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, directed the authorities on various development programmes in the state. He directed the authorities to take up road repair works on priority basis with the objective of making Andhra Pradesh, a pothole-free state. He asked the officials of state’s municipal corporations and councils to take pictures before and after restoring the roads. He asserted that all the road repair works should by duly completed by the end of June under the Nadu-Nedu programme.

CM Reddy directed officials to create awareness among people on segregation of wet, dry, and hazardous waste with the help of door-to-door campaign under the ‘Clean Andhra Pradesh’ initiative. He was informed that 1.12 crore dustbins have been distributed to households so far, for garbage collection and that 8 lakh more dustbins will be distributed by May 22. Moreover, 2426 autos are already engaged in the Clean Andhra initiative and around 1123 e-autos will be available for this initiative by June.

He also instructed local government bodies to provide every household with daily access to drinking water. He has asked officials to submit a comprehensive report on Vishakhapatnam Metro Rail Project, including the design of coaches and facilities at metro stations.

At the meeting, CM Reddy mentioned establishing Jagananna Mahila Marts in the state to empower women self-help groups. He said that the government officials and local bodies will have to ensure adequate assistance including good buildings for this project.
