MUMBAI: The Government of Maharashtra on Friday, August 6, informed that it is going to work in solidarity with private players in order to speed up the free inoculation process for Covid-19 vaccine. Various municipal corporations and zila parishads are tying up with the private hospitals for this drive.
The state government said that this drive is a part of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative with a main aim to vaccinate as many people as possible within a short period of time. Aaditya Thakeray, Minister of Tourism and Environment, Government of Maharashtra, said, “ The state government is focusing on administering the second jab now. Therefore, the government has made an appeal to private players, CSR trusts and Non-Government Organisations (NGOs) to come forward and contribute in this task.”
Considering the COVID-19 situation in Mumbai, Reliance hospital has provided 1.5 lakh doses of vaccine. For Dharavi alone, Jaslok hospital has promised 50,000 doses. Various private hospitals have extended help to Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) in order to carry out free vaccination drive, Thackeray informed. Moreover, BMC has also reached to different hospitals for assistance.
