GURUGRAM: The Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) on Wednesday, April 6, directed 194 bulk waste generators in the city to build waste processing facilities in their units. Bulk waste generators like hotels, restaurants, banquet halls and other commercial joints were earlier invited to a workshop and were directed to ensure their compliance with the Solid Waste Management Rules, 2016.

Vijaypal Yadav, Joint Commissioner, MCG said that the bulk waste generators in the city produce up to 50 kg or more waste every day, which is why it is necessary for them to process it. He informed that the MCG has empanelled several agencies to assist such units in waste processing. He mentioned that these units have been directed to segregate their waste into dry, wet, hazardous and biomedical waste. The units will be responsible to process the wet waste, and will send the dry, hazardous, and biomedical waste to treatment plants for recycling. He mentioned that several bulk waste generators were found to be flouting the SWM Rules, 2016 and were issued notices and penalized by the teams of MCG.
