NEW DELHI: After a probe into the water level at the Wazirabad Barrage on Friday, July 13, Raghav Chadha, Vice Chairman, Delhi Jal Board (DJB), informed that the Government of Haryana has discharged 16,000 cusecs of water, which was Delhi’s rightful share of raw water. Ever since the release, the water treatment plants are operating at full capacity.

Water levels of Wazirabad riverbed stood at around 667 feet a week earlier. After the release of Delhi’s share of raw water through the Yamuna River by Haryana, water levels have been restored. This will ease the water woes across the city. DJB had earlier claimed that only 120 million gallons of water per day (MGD) had been released by Haryana, which is lesser than usual.

“It was because of the efforts of people of Delhi and Delhi government that Haryana has released our rightful share,” Chadha said. Pictures posted by him on July 12 and 16 showed a significant rise in the water levels.
