Vishakhapatnam begins random testing in red zones of the city

VISAKHAPATNAM: To control the spread of virus and to effectively detect coronavirus positive patients, the officials of Vishakhapatnam have begun random testing of people living in red zones of the city. The officials have planned to collect 60 to 100 new samples daily. Earlier the test were conducted on people who had returned from abroad but now it has been extended to random people in red zones. As a part of this drive the officials has mapped out the list of people who came  in contact with corona positive patients, and other suspects suffering from fever, cold and influenza.

Those who are being tested are advised to remain in home isolation for 14 days or they are being shifted to nearest community health centres. The official said that they will continue doing random check ups till the lockdown is enforced. All full proof measures were being taken and every house in the red zones is being surveyed. In Gajuwaka, the door-to-door survey by surveillance teams has been completed in 11 wards.

Zonal Commissioner of Gajuwaka told that around 48,000 houses in red zones surrounding Kunchumamba colony were surveyed by 900 teams, and remaining will be surveyed at the earliest.
