MUMBAI: After few nurses and doctors tested positive for novel coronavirus, two hospitals Wockhardt Hospital and Jaslok Hospital in Mumbai have been declared as containment zones.

At least 26 nurses and three doctors in Wockhardt Hospital tested positive for Covid-19, while Jaslok Hospital has 10 Covid-19 positive staffers, including six nurses.

Due to the increase in positive cases of doctors and nurses, restrictions have been imposed with both exit and entry of hospitals have been sealed. This has raised a concern about the staffers in both the hospitals as it has affected it’s functioning with more and more health workers testing positive for the Covid-19.

Experts are now suggesting to make it compulsory for all hospital staff and health workers to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), while interacting and treating patients.

Dr Gautam Bhansali, Consultant General Physician at Bombay Hospital said, we have started to treat all patients as suspected novel coronavirus patients, if their report show positive for virus we are shifting them to the special wards. Proper use of PPE is effective in saving the medical staff. However, there is a shortage of PPEs for all medical staff.
