Travel restrictions and fine to restrict second wave of COVID in Tamil Nadu

MADURAI: The district administration of Madurai, on Tuesday, March 9, announced imposition of a fine of Rs 200 for not wearing masks in public places. The Madurai district collector, while releasing the press release, reminded people that the curfew in Tamil Nadu has been extended till March 31 in view of apprehensions over formation of second wave of COVID-19. The press release further added that various preventive measures are being taken in the interest of the public to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the Madurai district and the curfew with various relaxations to curb the spread of coronavirus.

An official statement informed that because corona infections right now are mostly prevalent in states like Maharashtra and Kerala, the state government has implemented the e-pass procedure for persons coming from these states to Tamil Nadu.  It also added that the health, police, local, corporation, municipal, and revenue officials have been advised to detect non-compliance with the social distancing norms in public places and impose fines.
