GANDHINAGAR: In order to encourage industries that produce displays and semiconductors in Gujarat, the Government of Gujarat has announced the Semiconductor Policy 2022–27. The Policy is anticipated to have the greatest positive impact on Dholera Smart City. Gujarat Semiconductor Policy 2022–27 calls for the establishment of Semicon City in Dholera.
The first 200 acres of land purchased by eligible projects under this policy will receive a 75 per cent subsidy, and any additional land needed for fab projects, upstream/downstream projects, or other projects allowed under India Semiconductor Mission (ISM) will receive a 50 per cent subsidy. According to Dilip Brahmbhatt, General Manager: Commercial, Corporate & HR, Dholera Industrial City Development Ltd (DICDL), semiconductor firms would move to Dholera as a result of the state government’s recently announced semiconductor policy. Due to its connectivity and infrastructure, Dholera will develop into a major national centre for the semiconductor industry, he continued.
Smart grid connectivity will provide an alternate and dependable power supply for the semiconductor projects that will be built in Dholera. Additionally, Common Effluent Treatment Plants (CTP) and Treatment, Storage, and Disposal Facilities will be included in the project (TSDF). It should be noted that all qualified projects will receive good quality water at a cost of Rs 12 per cubic metre for the first five years under the Semiconductor Policy. Following that, water rates will rise by 10 per cent a year for the following five years. A power tariff subsidy of Rs 2 per unit has been made available for eligible projects under this policy, and all eligible projects may be exempt from paying electricity charges in accordance with the provisions set forth under the Gujarat Electricity Duty Act, 1958, for a period of 10 years following the start of production.
According to this policy, eligible projects to receive a one-time 100 per cent refund of the stamp duty and registration fees they paid to the government in connection with the lease, sale, or transfer of land for project purposes. As per the model of the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM), the Gujarat State Electronics Mission (GSEM) has been established as a nodal body within the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India. Fast, proactive, and transparent for investors, GSEM – Mission Semiconductor will function as a one window clearing system for all required regulatory clearances.
