MYSURU, Karnataka: The Resident Welfare Association (RWA) has reached out to the MLA GT Deve Gowda and Dinesh Kumar, Commissioner, Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA), asking them to lay all the required underground pipelines to prevent frequent road cutting in future.

The Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) or MUDA collects road cutting charges from the residents. However, the damage to the surface and sub-structure is often neglected. This time around as the construction work began to widen the road between Block B and Block C in Vijayanagar 3rd Stage, the RWA reached out to the local area MLA and Commissioner of the MUDA.

They also suggested that charges for road cutting and other manual labour could be collected from the owners when they seek approval for their building plans. Currently, the MUDA collects these charges at the time of construction of the houses to spend on the repairs of damage suffered during the road cutting.

The RWA thinks this way the road could last up to a decade, and it will also save the taxpayer money.

As per the statement of Mandetira N Subramani, Legal Advisor to RWA, the MLA has assured them that he will convey the suggestions of the association to the Commissioner of MUDA for implementation with immediate effect.
