Rajasthan to launch ‘Indira Rasoi Yojana’, provide meals at Rs 8

JAIPUR: The Government of Rajasthan has decided to launch the ‘Indira Rasoi Yojana’ in urban areas of the state from August 2020. As part of the scheme, poor and needy people will get nutritious food for just Rs 8, said Ashok Gehlot, Chief Minister, Rajasthan, on Sunday, August 2. Under the scheme, a total of 358 kitchens in 213 urban localities will be operationalized. 

The state government will spend Rs 100 crore per year on this scheme, said Gehlot. The decision for launching this scheme was taken when CM Gehlot, Shanti Dhariwal, Minister of Urban Development and other officials of the state government participated in a meeting through video conferencing. Minister Dhariwal said the state government would give a grant of Rs. 12 per plate. Mr. Gehlot also directed to constitute a committee in the state and district levels to ensure the quality of food.
