JAIPUR, Rajasthan: The Government of Rajasthan has issued guidelines for the civic bodies urging them to pick up stray dogs with violent tendencies and release them far away from the city limits. The rules have been issued following an unfortunate incident where a six-year-old child was killed by stray dogs in Chittorgarh.
The Directorate of Urban Local Bodies has formulated six-point guidelines for municipal bodies following a rise in complaints regarding stray dogs from colleges, schools, parents and citizens. The order in this regard was issued by Suresh Kumar Ola this Wednesday.
The guidelines say that the dogs expressing violent and aggressive behaviour should be identified, captured, and released far from the city. In the past three months, there have been a lot of incidents where stray dogs have attacked people, said the veterinary doctors associated with the corporation. As per the estimates, there are about 7 lakh dogs in Rajasthan, 50,000 of which are in Jaipur only.
