NEW DELHI: Arvind Kejriwal, Chief Minister of Delhi, plans to meet Prakash Javadekar, Union Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, to discuss the implementation of ‘Pusa decomposer’ developed by the Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI). The capsules are to be mixed with jaggery and chickpea flour along with sufficient quantities of water. The mixture will form a liquid-like substance in need of 8-10 days of fermentation. The mixture, when sprayed on the fields with crop stubble, will ensure expeditious decomposition of the stubble.
“Delhi and many other North Indian states are covered with smoke due to stubble burning in the neighbouring States by the farmers,” Kejriwal said. He added, “This technique improves the fertility and productivity of the soil as the stubble works as manure and compost for the crops and lesser fertilizer composition is required in the future.” The cost of the capsule, as told by Kejriwal, is very less. Delhi government is planning on getting the proposal with all the important details soon.
