Oxygen express reaches Delhi with 70 tonnes of oxygen

NEW DELHI: The first Oxygen Express train for Delhi, which carried 70 tonnes of life-saving oxygen, reached the national capital on Tuesday, April 25, officials said. They added that this oxygen will now be distributed by the Government of NCT of Delhi to various hospitals.

Piyush Goel, Minister of Railways, Government of India, tweeted that the oxygen express has reached the Capital from Raigarh, Chhattisgarh. The India Railways earlier said that it has chalked out a plan to transport medical oxygen from Angul, Kalinagar, Rourkela and Raigarh to Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR).

According to the official bulletin, Delhi recorded the highest single day spike in COVID-19 cases with 380 more people being added to the death toll. The positivity rate stands at more than 35 per cent.
