NOIDA: Inspired by New York’s famous Central Park, a world-class business zone with a 500-hectare park, an ‘Aerotropolis’ (like New Delhi’s Aerocity) and an ‘Olympic City’ have been proposed under the Master Plan-2041, for the area around Noida International Airport.
It is conjectured that there will be a need of eight lakh homes to accommodate an estimated population of 41.7 lakh people by 2041, 1,200 hectares of commercial space and 4,000 hectares of industrial land. The master plan which was presented to the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) shows that the area to be developed is along the 165-km stretch of the Yamuna Expressway near Noida.
According to the YEIDA plan, total planning area Phase-I is 604 square kilometer with 321 sq km as ‘Urbanisable’ area. At present, the population of the area is 3,74,431, as per census 2011, in which 19.3 per cent is urban population and 80.7 per cent is rural. The area allotted for Aerotropolis is 10,542 hectares out of which airport area is 4,752 hectares, and the remaining area is 5,790 hectares. The width has been proposed to be 25 to 130 meters along with metro, neo metro extensions, and city bus network.
The plan also includes means of intermediate public transport like rickshaw stands and e-rickshaw charging stations. Parking is a major component of the plan which offers on-street and off-street parking options.
