Ministry of Transport sanctions five greenfield projects for AP

NEW DELHI: Nitin Gadkari, Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Government of India has sanctioned five greenfield corridor projects in Andhra Pradesh.

Vijayasai Reddy, Member of Parliament, Yuvajana Shramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP), had put up a question to Gadkari in the Rajya Sabha regarding the progress of projects. As per Gadkari, six-laning of NH-139 from Raipur to Vishakhapatnam (approximately 99 kilometers) has been sanctioned at Rs 3183 crore, out of which Rs 202 crore have already been spent. Rs 1281 crore have been granted for NH-365, from Khammam to Devarapalli, while Rs 200 crore have been spent. Rs 3179 crore have also been allocated for the Chittoor-Thatchu stretch of NH-7126 and Rs 123 crore have been shelled out.

Additionally, Rs 4137 crore have also been sanctioned for Bangalore-Chennai expressway. He also mentioned that many other projects were added under Setu Bharatam Programme, Prime Minister’s ambitious initiative to improve existing national highways and construct new ones.
