MCD collects fines of Rs 22000 for dumping debris on roads

DEHRADUN: The Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) initiated a movement to eliminate debris and construction material from the main roads of the city. On December 29, the civic body imposed fines amounting to Rs 22,000 on seven people and institutions who had left the  construction material or dumped debris on the roads.

The officials and the staff of the municipal corporation are paying regular visits to the city in order to keep the city roads debris free.

Till now, Rs 4 lakh has been collected as a penalty and the collected money has been deposited in the corporation’s funds.

The MCD also took strict actions by seizing the construction material and debris from the construction sites. The drive was initiated by the MCD after it was noticed that the construction material placed on main roads is a problem for daily commuters as it disrupts the smooth flow of traffic.
