LUCKNOW: The Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) has decided to release the third and fourth installments of the local area development funds to corporators. This will help them in resuming development works across the city, which were stalled due to a shortage of funds.

A corporator, an elected representative of a ward, is entitled to receive Rs 1.24 crore per annum as a local area development fund. The corporator is required to spend this money on civic amenities in his/her area for development purposes. This decision of releasing the remaining installments of the yearly funds was taken during the LMC house meeting held on Sunday, July 25.

Corporators will utilize these funds for construction or maintenance of inner roads, tilling of lanes and part of these will be spent on COVID-19 prevention. Other corporators said that they would use funds for the repair of roads that are hazardous for the residents, especially during the rainy season.
