BEGALURU: In a bid to equip the medical staff better with measures and protocols to treat a coronavirus positive patient, the Karnataka government has decided to provide online training to 4.5 lakh nurses in the state.
K Sudhakar, Medical Education Minister said, looking at the present pandemic it has become extremely important to train more healthcare professional in the state on how to handle coronavirus affected patient, as we don’t want medical staff to get infected by virus treating the patients.
He also said that the state is facing a shortage of trained workers expert in dealing with this pandemic and if we don’t address the issue at the earliest medical workers can get infected. We need to keep nursing professionals ready to handle COVID-19 and that is why we have decided to impart skills to them all through online classes the standards of operating procedures to be followed while treating the infected person.
The training module is prepared by Rajiv Gandhi University of Health and sciences and the nurses are expected to attend two hour classes every day. With this Karnataka has become the first state to implement such training module.
