JAMMU: On Friday, an official stated that Kargil district in the Union Territory of Ladakh will have a municipal solid waste management plant for trash conversion to energy, recycling, and composting.
Ajeet Kumar Sahu, Commissioner-Secretary, Housing and Urban Development Department, Ladakh examined the progress of the plant. According to him, the solid waste treatment facility may separate solid waste into several components and turn it into valuable products. The system is capable of handling dry, wet, and mixed garbage. The plant will help alleviate waste pollution as well as keep the environment clean. As a recreation place for the public, a café has also been proposed in the plan which will be made and run on the waste management model.
Plastic waste, according to the commissioner, may be managed most effectively at the local level by using it to build roads, while paper and fabric waste can be employed to manufacture recycled paper. Sahu gave the consultancy agency seven months to finish the assignment and promised them his full support.
Sahu was informed by the project’s consultant firm that a topographical and technical survey of the site has been completed. The plant will be constructed at Kargil’s Kurbathang.
