NEW DELHI: India has unveiled the world’s largest renewable energy park in the Kutch region of Gujarat. Named as Khavda renewable energy park spans over 538 sq km, which is equal to five times the size of Paris.
The once barren land is now home to an impressive array of solar panels and wind turbines, which are capable of generating 30 GigaWatts of clean electricity.
Adani Green Energy Ltd, one of India’s leading renewable energy companies, has invested approximately Rs 1.5 lakh crore to harness the region’s abundant solar radiation and wind speeds.
The park is expected to generate 81 billion units of electricity annually and is a significant milestone towards India’s goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2070.
