HYDERABAD, Telangana: A 2.6 kilometer long bi-direction steel flyover connecting Indira Park to VST is all set to be launched in the coming days.

The steel flyover has been constructed by the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) at a cost of ₹350 crore. Nearly 13,000 tonnes of steel has been used in the construction process.

This would be the 20th flyover which has been built in Hyderabad city under the Strategic Road Development Plan (SRDP). All vital works related to the safety of the commuters, such as the installation of signage, LED lights and crash barriers on the elevated corridor, have been completed. The maximum speed allowed on the flyover is 40 km, informed the senior GHMC official.

It is being said that the elevated corridor will reduce the traffic woes of densely populated areas such as RTC Cross Roads, Osmania University, Tarnaka, Amberpet, Uppal, Musheerabad, Indira Park, Ashok Nagar, Vidyanagar etc.

As these areas are amidst the residential and commercial institutions they tend to witness heavy traffic. The situation further deteriorates during school and college hours as there are several schools, colleges and coaching institutes in the surrounding areas. Earlier, the flyover was supposed to be delivered by December 2022, but heavy rain in the state and fluctuations in the steel prices stalled this plan.
