Hyderabad and Telangana’s ULBs to get a new master plan

HYDERABAD, Telangana: K.T. Rama Rao, Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development, Government of Telangana, has announced that a new master plan will be formed for Hyderabad and 141 other urban local bodies (ULB) of the state. He mentioned that an internationally reputed agency would be roped in by the state for preparing the master plan.

The new plan for Hyderabad is to be completed within 18 months, while the plan for municipal corporations and municipalities is to be completed by March 31, 2023.

Under this new plan, the state government aims to treat 100% of the sewage waste generated in the city of Hyderabad. For this purpose, the state government is spending Rs 3666 crore to set up new sewerage treatment plants to enhance the existing sewage treatment capacity. Currently, the city generates 2000 million litres of sewage waste every day.

The state government is also planning to set up a specialised institute to produce a skilled workforce. Confederation of the Real Estate Developer’s Association of India and the Government of Telangana have partnered for this purpose. Additionally, Rama Rao has declared that the state will ensure that sufficient employment opportunities are available to the people trained by this institute.
