HYDERABAD, Telangana: The Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation (GWMC) is planning to upgrade existing bus stations into smart bus stations for the convenience of the commuters.

The plan proposed by the GWMC to develop the existing bus stations into smart stations would cost them about Rs 105 crores. The GWMC could avail the loan of up to Rs 90 crores due to its better credit rating. The civic body is planning to rope in a private advertisement agency for the proposed makeover of these bus stations.

The proposed plan was unveiled by the Mayor Gundu Sudharani, in a meeting held on Thursday, May 26. The meeting was attended by Challa Dharma Reddy, MLA, Parkal; P Pravinya, Municipal Commissioner, Shamim Rizwana Masood and other corporators.

A Detailed Project Report (DPR) was also under review regarding the daily drinking water supply to the city, which would cost about Rs 350 crores to the corporation. Till now, the GWMC has identified a total of 4000 leakages out of which nearly 2500 have already been plugged and 1500 are yet to be plugged. Additionally, the mayor further pointed out that the corporation initiated a total of 993 projects last year with an estimated cost of Rs 396 crores.
