HYDERABAD: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has set up its first ever biomethanation plant in the city at the Chanda Nagar garbage transfer station at an estimated cost of Rs 24.76 lakh. The inauguration ceremony of plant was joined by Bonthu Rammohan, Mayor of City, D Hari Chandan, zonal Commissioner.

Speaking on the occasion, Rammohan said that in coming future several other bio methanation plants are to build under GHMC jurisdiction. He also instructed the bulk waste generators and gated communities to install some decentralised compost and gas plants in their vicinity which would reduce the transportation costs for the GHMC and the saved funds will be used for other city development plans.
