FARIDABAD, Haryana: Solid waste collection and disposal work has come to a halt in Faridabad due to the breakout of the strike of vendors of Ecogreen Company for not getting their pending dues.

The situation will worsen soon as the waste is piling up at the transfer stations due to the breakdown of transportation services. Ecogreen Company removes around 800 tonnes of waste at the dumping site of Bandhwari village, which lies on the Faridabad-Gurugram highway.

As per the sources in Municipal Corporation Faridabad (MCF), the situation has arisen as dues of the company amounting to ₹10 crore has been pending for past five months. Sources said, “As only three of the total of the 40 dumper trucks are currently engaged in lifting and transporting the waste from the transfer stations to the dumping site, the situation may worsen if the garbage is not shifted on time.”

MCF is liable to pay ₹2 crore to the company each month for the job and the delay in this payment has resulted in this crisis. Urban Local Body (ULB) signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in 2017 with the company to remove the waste of Faridabad and Gurugram cities. MoU also includes setting up a Waste to Energy plant in Nadhwari, which is still pending.
