FMC to start working towards 100% waste collection by March 2022

FARIDABAD: Yashpal Yadav, Commissioner, Faridabad Municipal Corporation (FMC), said that newly formed ward committees in the city will act as change agents which will ensure the participation of stakeholders in achieving Faridabad’s 100% waste collection target.

A meeting of 40 freshly constituted ward committees by FMC was conducted on Sunday, November 7, in which it was decided that a goal of complete solid waste management would be achieved in the city by March 2022.  The civic body also decided that these ward committees would undertake decentralized waste management and also asked the members to collaborate with local residents’ welfare associations, market associations and other groups.

“We have already procured 110 vehicles to collect waste in the city. These vehicles will be incorporated in service which starts from November 10. Furthermore, we have trained manpower and experts, which will assist in smooth collection and disposal of solid waste,” said Yadav.
He also appealed to the residents and welfare associations to corporate and ensures that waste is handed over to authorized waste collection vehicles so that it is disposed of at designated places. Moreover, the construction debris and similar waste should be disposed of in a scientific manner so that it does not become a hazard.
