NEW DELHI: Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi Manish Sisodia announced on Tuesday, that all the 70 MLAs of Delhi Assembly will get tablets for all official purposes. The move to work digitally is part of an automation project. This two-pronged strategy is aimed at achieving efficiency as well as adopting environment-friendly practices.

This will substantially reduce the immense piles of files and papers, which are associated with official government red-tapism. From now, all official matters from tabling bills, raising questions, monitoring of questions and answers in the assembly to tracking of members’ attendance, etc. will be done digitally. Members will also be able to attend sessions virtually.

Recently, the budget was also presented in an e-format, where the MLAs were asked to carry their tablets provided by the Department of Finance, Government of Delhi for the budget session.
