CHANDIGARH: For its Department of Fire and Rescue Services, the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation (CMC) has suggested purchasing six inflatable emergency lighting towers. The Finance and Contract Committee meeting on February 24, will consider the agenda for approval. “During calamities such as building collapses, fire incidents, and rescue operations during the night hours, an inflatable emergency lighting tower is required to be employed. The equipment, as well as one standby, shall be kept in each fire tender,” according to the agenda.

“An inflatable emergency lighting tower can be beneficial in a variety of situations. In the event of a fire or an emergency, the power supply to that area is turned off for safety reasons. This tower is very useful for the fire personnel during the operation because there is no electricity,” an official remarked. The budget of Rs 13,71,000 has been put together. The funds will come from the Capital Head’s budget forecasts for the fiscal year 2022-23.
