RAIPUR, Chhattisgarh: The Government of Chhattisgarh, on Friday, July 19, launched a plantation drive in ‘Krishna Kunj’, an urban forest located in the Telibandha area of the state to mark the festival of Janmashtami.

The plantation drive has been launched with an aim to increase green cover in the state and to create awareness among the local population about the importance of trees. CM Baghel added that the reasoning behind the name ‘Krishna Kunj’ is to make people aware of the “god-like and divine values” of trees like neem, peepal, banyan and kadamba.

As per the news reports, CM Baghel also planted a Kadamba sapling in ‘Krishna Kunj’ and fed gram and jaggery to a cow.

Earlier the state government also launched Ram Van Ganman Path Tourism Circuit and Godhan Nyay Yojana.
