CM asks Team UP to follow Indore’s model of cleanliness

LUCKNOW, Uttar Pradesh: The Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath, has asked the urban local bodies (ULBs) in the state to adopt the Indore model of cleanliness and solid waste management to ensure cleanliness and preserve the greenery in the cities of Uttar Pradesh (UP).

A team of officials from UP reviewed the cleanliness model of Indore, to improve the waste management and cleanliness strategy of UP, last Saturday and Sunday. During the two days’ visit, UP team had a field visit to Asia’s largest bio CNG plant situated at Trenching Ground.

Around 13 representatives from ULBs like Jhansi, Aligarh, Saharanpur, Bareilly, Mathura-Vrindavan, Farrukhabad, Ikdil Nagar, Kushinagar, Moradabad, Gorakhpur were on the visit, including Neha Sharma, Director, Swachh Bharat Mission, UP.

As per the official statement, the team visited the command and control centre on Sunday, during which a presentation was made highlighting the initiatives for cleanliness taken in the last six years, and they were briefed about the spot fine and garbage collection charges in Indore City. 

Durga Shankar Mishra, Chief Secretary, also visited the Bio CNG plant and understood the functioning of the plant. The state government is planning to build a bio-CNG plant which could process 300 to 400 tonnes of wet waste through the civic bodies in the state.
