NEW DELHI: Ashwini Vaishnaw, Minister of Railways, Government of India, announced that the railways have set the target to lay new railway tracks, covering a distance of 7,000 Kilometers in the financial year 2023-24.
The minister said that the last financial year’s target of laying railway tracks for a distance of 4,500 kilometers (12 kilometers per day) has been already achieved. Adding to it, he said, “Before 2014, this used to be four kilometers per day. The railways have set a target of laying new railway tracks for a distance of 7,000 kilometers next year. These tracks will include new lines, doubling, and gauge conversion.”
For the development of railway stations under the Amrit Bharat Station scheme, the Ministry of Railways has identified the following 31 railway stations: Chandigarh, Ludhiana, Jalandhar Cantt, Amritsar, Beas, Bhatinda Jn, Jalandhar City, Pathankot Cantt, Abohar, Anandpur Sahib, Fazilka, Firozepur Cantt, Gurdaspur, Kotkapura, Kapurthala, Dhuri, Dhandari Kalan, Malerkotla, Muktsar, Moga, Mansa, Nangal Dam, Patiala, Phagwara, Pathankot City, Phillur, Rup Nagar, Sahibzada Ajeet Singh Nagar (SASN) Mohali, Sangrur, Sirhind, Hoshiarpur.
