MUMBAI: Amidst the Russia-Ukraine crisis, India is on toes for evacuating Indians from war-stricken Ukraine. In response to the situation, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has come forward offering free services to all the students coming back from Ukraine. Mayor Kishore Pednekar said, “These services will entail the free COVID-19 testing, vaccination, food and all other facilities.” After the air space was shut in Ukraine to halt Russia’s aggression, thousands of Indians, especially students were stranded there. However, the first flight carrying around 219 Indians has already taken off from Romania, S Jaishankar, Minister of External Affairs, Government of India reported on Saturday, February 26.
Moreover, India has advised to its stranded citizens that they should not move to the Ukraine border without any prior consultation with the Indian Embassies and government officials deployed at border posts of Ukraine and adjacent countries. Indian government has been quite efficiently working towards evacuating its citizens safely as the matter seems to be quite “sensitive”.
