Bed ridden people above 45 yrs in Kerala to get vaccinated at home

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Government of Kerala on Tuesday, June 1, said that bed ridden people above the age of 45 years would be vaccinated at home. Veena George, Minister of Health, Government of Kerala, said that the health workers would visit houses of bed ridden people and vaccinate them as part of the policy to protect them from COVID-19.

The state government issued the guidelines for vaccinating people more than 45 years of age as those below 45 were already given priority in the earlier list. It is the first time since the vaccination began in January, that the state government has decided to begin with the home vaccination. The Department of Health said that each health centre is to make a list of bed ridden people registered and make sure that they all are vaccinated.

The official statement said that the local self-government bodies can take the assistance of Non-Government Organisations (NGOs) for implementing this and the whole team of vaccination have to follow the proper health protocols including wearing of PPE kits, masks, etc. The team is also advised to observe the patients for half an hour after the vaccination, the release said.
