DISPUR, Assam: The state police of Assam have joined hands with Meta to start a digital awareness programme regarding cybercrime among the youth of Assam.

A digital awareness training programme, “we think digital” will be launched for the students at the Royal Global University of Assam. The programme will primarily focus on raising awareness regarding digital safety with the help of seminars, training modules and a knowledge repository which will include child and adult safety self-help materials, safety films, tools and a safety guide. Under this programme, Meta is aiming to train a total of 10,000 students from various schools, colleges and universities in Assam.

Meta aims to promote safe online behaviour through awareness about cybercrime and provide effective tools and resources to empower youth against online damages. The training module would include the fundamental principles of digital literacy and cyber security and raise awareness regarding online browsing, cyber bullying, sextortion, darknet services, trolling, data theft and identity theft.

In December 2021, Meta launched a similar initiative under the same “we think digital” programme in collaboration with National Commission for Women and Cyber Peace Foundation, aiming to educate women regarding cyber stalking, financial fraud and cyber bullying.
