AMARAVATI: The Government of Andhra Pradesh announced on Friday, July 30, that they will be initiating the process of offering housing plots for middle-class families in the urban areas. They will be developing a layout that is expected to promote the planned and integrated development of the city. The state government has decided to do so to address the aspirations of the middle-income groups for better infrastructure and quality housing facilities.

The state government will also be including basic amenities like roads, water supply, drains and electricity in the planned layout. Families could avail the plots at a price fixed by the government for the middle-income groups (MIG). The project would be overseen by a high-level committee appointed by the state government and headed by the municipal administration secretary. The committee would include the director of the town and country planning organizations, joint collector of the respective district, and vice-chairman/managing director of the urban development authority.

The urban development authority and the joint collector will be jointly identifying the land available for the project in the development authority area of the district. Y Srilakshmi, Special Chief Secretary, Municipal Administration, said that the identification of land will be done by giving preference to immediate saleability. He added that the land parcel would be within five km from the urban local body boundary.
