LUCKNOW, Uttar Pradesh: The Government of Uttar Pradesh has decided to establish a project management unit (PMU) for the maintenance and construction of urban roads.
The Urban Road Infrastructure Development Agency (URIDA), which has been formed for the maintenance of urban roads in Uttar Pradesh, has invited applications via a request for proposal (RFP) to allot the work to an agency which will function as a project management unit (PMU).
The agency selected by URIDA will also perform the role of a knowledge partner. As per the provisions of the CM Grid Scheme, PMU will also be responsible for finalising guidelines, policy formation and its implementation, during which it will also take note of the existing guidelines, standards and legal notifications.
The agency will also have to prepare model documents for the selection of the contractors and execution of the project, thereby simplifying the process. It will also formulate the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the planning, implementation, construction, management and maintenance of the roads in the urban areas.
PMU will help URIDA in developing a curriculum for engineers, policymakers, and contractors to design, implement and maintain urban roads. Additionally, they will also contribute to providing training to ULB officials and other stakeholders in the project to facilitate the development of cost-effective roads.
