MYSURU: The recently published report of Unified District Information System for Education (UDISE+2019-20) mentioned that the government schools have done better as compared to private schools in extending the medical check-ups to students. The findings are based on the medical check-ups which were conducted during the previous academic year.

According to the report, 49,552 schools conducted the medical check-up of students out of the total 49,834 government schools which is 99.37 per cent. Whereas in case of private schools, 15,006 conducted the health check-ups out of total 20,069 private unaided schools which comes to 74.77 per cent.

D Shashikumar, General Secretary, Associated Management of Primary and Secondary Schools, said that a majority of private schools have conducted the health camps whereas some are not doing it as the parents are against such practices citing different reasons. He added that integration of health records of the students with the Student Tracking System (STS) is one of the best solutions as it will also include the vaccination status of students.
