5 states account for 56% of active COVID-19 cases in India

NEW DELHI: As the active cases and deaths due to COVID-19 are continuously showing an upwards trend across the world, present situation in India has eased up a bit as the active daily cases and deaths are declining. However, Maharashtra continues to be the worst hit state with more than 70,000 active COVID-19 cases.

Government of India said, on Tuesday, December 15, that the active COVID-19 cases and deaths are declining in India. According to the statement by Ministry of Health and family Welfare, Government of India, five states account for almost 56 per cent of the total active COVID-19 cases in the country. Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal, Kerala and Maharashtra are the five states in the list.

Maharashtra is reportedly the worst affected state with more than 48,000 deaths and 17,66,010 recoveries. Next in the queue is Kerala with 57,757 active COVID-19 cases and around 6,16,000 recoveries in total so far.
