THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, Kerala: Chief Minister of Kerala, Pinarayi Vijayan announced that the Kerala government will leverage global expertise and cutting-edge, climate-resilient technologies to construct a model township for the Wayanad landslide victims. The project will involve top environmental architects and a significant investment from the state.

Several organisations have pledged their support to aid in this initiative. The Public Works Department (PWD) will be responsible for demolishing unsafe structures in the disaster zones and reconstructing damaged village roads.

Service providers will visit survivors in relief camps and hospitals to restore lost mobile phone connections and equipment. Additionally, the government will replace lost academic diplomas and tax records. Residents of the 11 wards designated as disaster zones will receive free electricity and rations.

The State’s Relief Commission will also brief the Central Inter-Ministerial team about the situation in Wayanad. The Kerala government is committed to ensuring a comprehensive and resilient recovery for the affected communities.
