LUCKNOW, Uttar Pradesh: The Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath-led Government of Uttar Pradesh is planning to make their civic bodies self-reliant and enhance their income. This will improve the overall condition of the urban local bodies, helping them contribute significantly to the $1 trillion economy goal of the state.
To improve the condition of the municipal corporations, municipalities, and nagar panchayats, the Government of Uttar Pradesh will be making significant investments in the infrastructure and services sector to help the civic body generate their own revenue. This will make them financially independent and only then will they be able to contribute to the goal of a $1 trillion economy.
These proposed investments are to come in administration and utility infrastructure, urban kiosks, mechanised and other types of parking, and road junctions. Additionally, the creation of livelihood centres and economic infrastructure, including co-working spaces, street food hubs, and digital streets is also on the cards.
Similarly, heritage and cultural infrastructure development will include, heritage streets, exhibition spaces, museums, galleries, urban art décor, and statues. While, social amenities will consist of urban commodity centres, marriage halls, retirement homes, senior care centres, and hostels for working men and women. Public health infrastructure will include, parks, open gymnasiums, and multipurpose sports facilities.
However, the infrastructure investment will depend on the tax collection of the urban local body. Similarly, the selection of the infrastructure project will depend on the guidelines concerning the size of the urban local body. The project with higher public-private partnership potential will be given priority.
