Suresh Prabhu launches helicopter service connecting Shimla and Chandigarh

CHANDIGARH: Suresh Prabhu, Union Minister of Civil Aviation launched the regional air connectivity scheme UDAN-II in Himachal Pradesh by flagging off a 30-minute helicopter ride between Shimla and Chandigarh on February 28, 2019.

The ride would initially operate for three days a week and later for six days a week. The service will take off at 10:00 am from Chandigarh and arrive Shimla at 10:30 am. The one-way fare of the service has been fixed at Rs 2,880, so more tourists can make use of the facility.

Jai Ram Thakur, Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh said that the air connectivity will boost economic activities in state.

The Union Minister said that UDAN-II scheme would help in providing convenient, comfortable and fast communication facilities to the people at the time of illness and other emergencies. He further said that the scheme would give a big boost to tourism development in the state.
